"TP Teaching Method" is a systematic combination of a "theoretical lesson" (a lesson focused on theory) by a Japanese teacher and a "practical lesson" (a lesson focused on practice) with a native English teacher.

According to an authority on language education in the U.S., there is a 180-degree difference in the mechanism of language acquisition between adults and children.

In terms of language education, the period between the age of 0 and 10 is called the "language formation period", when people have more of "the ability to learn a language through experience."

After the age of 10, people gradually begin to lose "the ability to learn a language through experience", and gain "the ability to learn a language in a logical way".

The reason we can learn Japanese, our native language, naturally and easily without so much effort is that we were born and brought up in Japan during the special period, called the "language formation period".

Not taking this into consideration, some Japanese people attach great importance to learning English, a foreign language, naturally, and put too much emphasis on learning through experience, for example, living abroad, or having a lot of opportunities to meet and talk with native English speakers in Japan.

However, after the "language formation period", people begin to lose "the ability to learn a language through experience", and can't expect to get great results only by learning through experience.

Instead, they have to study and understand what we call "Conversational English Theory" by making the most of "the ability to learn a language in a logical way."

Theoretical lessons by Japanese teachers, who have the best understanding of "English and English conversation for Japanese people" & practical lessons with native English teachers, who are highly experienced in teaching Japanese people English.

Therefore, NCC puts emphasis on a "theoretical lesson" designed for those who have passed the "language formation period", because they account for the majority of foreign language learners.

This is similar to pitching practice in baseball, based on the theory of, for example, how to hold a ball, and how to move the arm.

Similarly, in learning conversational English, a "practical lesson" with native English teachers can be more useful, if based on theory.

In the "theoretical lesson" at NCC, we teach you how to make rapid oral compositions ("Conversational English Theory").

Of course, this includes teaching grammar and traditional English composition, but you need more in order to be able to make rapid oral compositions.

So, beginners at NCC learn our unique "Conversational English Grammar", which we have developed by rearranging and simplifying complex grammar for conversational English, while intermediate and advanced students learn our "(Simultaneous) Interpretation Theory", which enables them to develop advanced oral composition skills.

These "theoretical lessons" are given not in the form of lectures, but in the form of exercises in oral composition, which is necessary to learn conversational English.

Also, they are given by Japanese teachers, who have overcome the same handicaps as students. It is after the "language formation period" that they mastered English and conversational English.

Japanese people who have passed the "language formation period" can't improve their English so much only by imitating native English speakers.

In learning English, Japanese people face a lot of difficult problems, caused by a strong influence of the Japanese language.

In order to solve such problems, they need to be taught English by Japanese teachers, who have had a hard time learning English under the same conditions as their students.

The combination of a "theoretical lesson" by a Japanese teacher and a "practical lesson" with a native English teacher is called the "TP Teaching Method" after the first letter of each phrase.

These two lessons, closely related to each other, are alternately given, which creates a synergistic effect. That is to say, theory is useful to practice, and in turn practice prompts a deeper understanding of theory.

We definitely promise amazing progress to all of the students, from complete beginners to highly advanced learners.
